Saturday Pickup - 1/31/09

Again with the disc! As we hit the end of the month, a couple things worth mentioning. First, apparently folks are starting to use the site a bit more consistently! Which means that the projected numbers seem to be a bit more in line with what we're seeing at the field. So check in towards the end of the week (or Saturday morning) if you're on the fence to see if you can be swayed by the masses. Which leads to number two. If you mark yourself as a maybe and you can move yourself to a definite (in either direction) as the week marches on, feel free to do so! Your earlier response gets removed and the new response gets recorded, which makes the numbers a bit more certain. I tend to think of the Maybes as people that are coming, but others may not be so optimistic. So that said, details:

Location: Professional Development Center (2301 N Vassault).
Time: 2:30pm

Use the Definitely, Definitely Not, or Maybe options at the bottom of the post to indicate your status. If you've got additional information, you can post a comment to make your mark on the weekend.

Saturday Pickup - 1/24/09

Once again, back to your regularly scheduled disc type happenings. Keep an eye posted to the comments in case a crowd decides to head up north again for disc on the south side of Seattle. The field was spectacular and there were enough folks to field two games (with a solid contingent of Tacoma folk). The winter pickup in Georgetown runs for a few more weeks, so if numbers look sparse and you need to play, it's a solid option.

The standard details for your viewing pleasure:

Location: Professional Development Center (2301 N Vassault).
Time: 2:30pm

MLK Day Pickup

With the extended holiday weekend, folks round these parts thought it would be peachy to throw together a game on this upcoming Monday (Martin Luther King Jr Day). So let's make with the brother/sisterhood and get to a field:

Time: 1pm til people can't stand the sight of a disc in their hand.

Location: Here's the tricky bit. As usual with these holiday pickup days, we like to try and get special locations in and around the Tacoma area. The Tacoma Dome evidently is unavailable, so we're looking at hosting at the fine Mason Middle School turf field. Cross streets are N. 27th and Mason/Proctor. If perchance the turf field is occupied, we'll move the show over to the Professional Development Center field.

Bring a white, a dark, and whatever other accouterments to a fine days ultimate that you can think of. As per previous posts, use the options at the bottom (Definitely, Definitely Not, Maybe) to specify your status, which should help us get a feel for how many folks will be out (especially given the short notice).

Saturday Pickup - 1/17/09

Hey folks! A (slight) curve ball this week. While not limping about the field, Jerry Keister patrols the DiscNW bulletin boards in shark-like fashion. And he happened upon this little bit of fluff and dander:

and thought it would be an interesting opportunity to vary our winter schedule. So, the thought is to take a field trip (caravan style) up north to play on the lush turf fields in Georgetown (South Seattle) and show those Seattle folks what ultimate really looks like. Fields are scheduled from 1pm-5pm.

For this particular occasion, if you're interested in heading up, in addition to the standard Definitely, Definitely Not, Maybe blather, post a comment and we can work out carpool arrangements, etc...

And because any ultimate road trip almost begs for post game beverages, how bout a post game stop to top off the day? Nine Pound Hammer is about two minutes from the fields and sounds great (I have to admit that the allure for me is Georgetown Brewing's 9 Lb Porter, although if folks have a preference for elsewhere, I can satisfy that particular curiosity by a quick stop for a growler to go at Georgetown Brewing itself...)
